Typically available in 1 to 7-gallon capacities (commonly 5-gallon), they feature 24–26 gauge steel construction, often with epoxy phenolic liners for compatibility with hazardous or delicate contents

Key Features and Options

Design: Non-removable top ensures high security against leaks, contamination, and damage.

UN Rating: Available for UN certification, making them suitable for hazardous material shipping.

Linings: Available as unlined (often with rust inhibitors) or with phenolic/epoxy linings for chemical resistance.

Interior Linings:
Rust Inhibitor: A standard thin primer that prevents rust for about 30 days during storage; it is not a permanent lining.
Phenolic/Epoxy Lining: Necessary for corrosive chemicals, acids, or food products to prevent the liquid from reacting with the steel.

Openings: Common closures include Flexspouts (to reduce glugging), screw caps, or bung openings (2 inch or 3/4 inch).

Construction: Generally made of 24-gauge steel with built-in metal handles for transport.
