Reasons why plastic drums cannot be filled with diesel

Nov 01, 2021

1. After 3 days of storage of diesel fuel in plastic drums, the content of colloid will increase by more than 10% compared with the original; after 9 days of storage, it will increase by 30%. Gum is easy to form carbon deposits, film and sludge in the diesel engine, which will affect the normal operation of the engine.

2. It will increase the acidity value of diesel oil. The acidity value of diesel fuel left in a plastic bucket for 7 days has increased by about %. The increase in acidity will accelerate the corrosion of the precision parts of the diesel engine supply system.

3. It will significantly extend the diesel distillation range. The storage of diesel fuel in plastic drums will extend its distillation range, affect the start-up performance and work balance of the diesel engine, and make the diesel fuel unable to burn completely, forming carbon deposits and increasing the unit consumption of fuel.

4. It will increase the residual carbon of diesel fuel. After the diesel has been stored in the plastic poke for a few days, the residual carbon contained in it has more than doubled, which seriously affects the quality of the diesel. In short, there are many harms in using plastic barrels to store oil, so use iron poke to store it. The iron drums used for storage should be free of rust and debris. After cleaning, they should be coated with raw lacquer epoxy resin or galvanized to ensure the oil quality.
